Kanot

Att paddla kanot är bland de mysigaste man kan göra på sommaren. Man bara glider fram där ovanför vattnet och man kommer fram på ställen där man inte kommer fram med andra båtar.

Det behövs inte många decimeter vatten för att man ska komma fram. Det gör att man kan ta sig mycket långt upp i Mittån med fiskespöt i högsta hugg. Eller så nöjer man sig med att följa standkanten längs sjön och bara njuta av vattnets kluckande mot kanotes sidor.

Hos Messlingen Fjällby kan du hyra kanadensare, om du vill ta dig fram på vattnet för egna maskiner eller en eka med motor om du vill vara bekväm och spara krafterna till annat.

Plocka hjortron

När det börjar närma sig slutet av juli och början av augusti kan man under fjällvandringen stöta på ”det gula guldet” eller ”myrarnas guld” som hjortronen också kallas.

Växten tillhör rosväxterna och är släkt med bl. a. hallon och björnbär. Själva hjortronplantan är mycket köldtålig och klarar temperaturer ner till -40°C men hjortronets blommor är däremot känsliga för frost. Då blomningen sker tidigt kan en frostnatt under blomningsperioden innebära att fruktsättningen uteblir helt och hållet. Bären används mest till sylt eller mylta, dvs mosade råa hjortron. Men hjortron kan också användas till likör och som fyllning i olika sötsaker. Bäret är mycket C-vitaminrikt och innehåller också bensoesyra, vilket ger bäret en lång hållbarhet.

Bada

Messlingens badplats ligger mot utloppet av sjön och är en fin sandstrand med badbrygga och sittbänkar att fika vid.

Här hålls även notdragning ett par gånger per sommar för alla att delta i.

Vandring

Visst är det härligt att vistas ute i naturen och har man dessutom något sevärt som mål kan turen bli ännu trevligare. I området kring Messlingen finns mycket att se. Dels kulturella lämningar i form av fäbodvallar och hällmålningar men även naturliga företeelser med djupa kanjoner och världsunika dvärgrödingar.

Det finns fina stigar inom byn för kortare promenader och längre turer för några timmar till fjälls.

Mountainbike

Mountainbike är något som har kommit starkt de senaste åren och Destination Funäsdalen har gjort en satsning på att utvidga mountainbikelederna runt om Funäsdalen.

I Messlingen finns fyra stycken utmärkta leder i varierade svårighetsgrader.

En hel fjällvärld som glittrar av fiskrika vatten omger Messlingen och yppar sig utmärkt för mete, spinnfiske eller flugfiske. Är du sugen på att få fisk är chansen stor att du drar upp en öring eller fjällröding till middag.

Med fiskeutrustning i packningen kan du sedan vandra ut i fjällvärlden och hitta alldeles egna guldkorn där du kan vara helt ensam. Man kan ta korta lätta dagsturer eller lite längre flerdagarsturer och vandra mellan de otaliga tjärnarna och fjällsjöarna som finns i området.

Området kring Messlingen har goda bestånd av all sorts fisk. Örningen och harren är hungrig efter vintern och hugger så fort isarna släppt. På försommaren är det dags att testa flugfisketekniken med torrfluga åt rödingen i någon av Mittåns svängar. Bästa tiden för fjällfiske av öring och röding i någon av tjärnarna är högsommarmånaderna från mitten av juli. Vill man meta eller fiska med spinnare kan Messlingesjön erbjuda både abborre, öring, och harr från försommaren till höst. Sensommarens kvällsfiske och ända fram till september kan man dra in riktigt stora harrbjässar. Sen lägger sig isarna i oktober och isfisket kan snart ta sin början.
